Julia Barnstedt studied law at the Paris Lodron University of Salzburg, completing her studies in 1997 when she was awarded the title Magistra Juris. This was followed by a postgraduate course on “European Integration” at the Europe Institute of the University of Saarland where she acquired the title “LL.M Eur”. From 2000 to 2003, Julia Barnstedt gained initial experience in the construction law field as a trainee lawyer at a law firm in Vienna. In 2002, she passed the bar examination at the Higher Regional Court of Vienna. In early 2006, Julia Barnstedt took the proficiency test for lawyers in European law at the State Legal Examination Authority in Düsseldorf with the aim of becoming fully integrated as a lawyer in the German system. Since then she has been officially licensed to practice law in Germany.

From 2004 onwards, Julia Barnstedt worked at several different medium-sized commercial law firms in Hamburg specialized on private construction law. Alongside civil law mandates, her activities mainly focused on providing consulting services to construction companies during construction projects - many of which were large-scale projects. In January 2011, she joined the Hamburg office of Leinemann Partner Rechtsanwälte.

Now, Julia Barnstedt’s legal activities concentrate on private construction law matters. She provides advice to her clients during their projects and also represents them before the courts. She is a member of the Austrian Lawyers’ Association as well as a member of the Bar Association in Hamburg.
