VITA
Dr. Marc Steffen studied law in Hamburg and Zurich – also completing his doctorate at the University of Hamburg. From 2001 to 2005, he lectured at the University of Hamburg and still lectures today at the Berlin School of Economics and Law. From 2005 onwards, he worked as a lawyer at reputable law firms in Hamburg and Koblenz - with a special focus on construction and architecture lawIn January 2009, Dr. Marc Steffen moved on to join Leinemann Partner Rechtsanwälte where he continued to provide advisory and forensic services to the construction and architecture law sector and in the procurement law field. Insolvency law is another of his main areas of focus where he provides advice to globally-operating companies - the interests of which he also represents before the courts. He provides consulting services to large-scale projects, in particular, major infrastructure measures (railway stations and airports), structural engineering projects (high-rise office buildings and shopping center construction and revitalization projects), as well as engineering and hydraulic engineering measures (offshore wind farms). Apart from providing support and advice in construction and architecture law matters, his work also concentrates on litigation proceedings before the state and arbitration courts (DIS and ICC).
Dr. Marc Steffen is a specialist for construction and architecture law, writes contributions for construction law journals and has also been the author of various book projects, the last one being a Leinemann/Kues commentary: BGB-Bauvertragsrecht [Law on construction contracts concerning contracts for works and services according to the German Civil Code], §§ 633 - 634a and 639 BGB [German Civil Code] and the manual published by Leinemann/Hildebrand on: “Der Bauvertrag nach VOB/B – Grundzüge des Bauvertragsrechts” [The construction contract according to the German Construction Contract Procedures, Part B - the fundamentals of construction contract law], 2nd edition, Chapter 2 Performance and Compensation In addition, Dr. Marc Steffen also speaks regularly at construction law seminars - in particular , as part of the training program for legal specialists - and organizes in-house seminars for the construction industry.
