Petra Gorny studied Law at the University of Osnabrück where she received her Master of Laws (LL.M.) in commercial criminal law. She completed her legal internship in the district of the Higher Regional Court of Hamm with stations in Nijmegen (The Netherlands) and Sydney (Australia).

Petra Gorny was admitted to the bar in 2008 and began her professional career in a commercial law firm at the Niederrhein (Lower Rhine region), focusing primarily on construction and architectural law. She was mostly instructed by Dutch-German clients and was handling international legal aspects as well as German construction law. After several years she moved on to a boutique-law firm in Berlin and continued to work in construction and architectural law. In summer 2019, Petra Gorny joined the Berlin office of Leinemann Partner Rechtsanwälte. She is now part of a team advising large international engineering projects such as offshore windfarms and bridges. She is also handling construction law cases before German state courts as well as arbitral tribunals, both in German and English language. She also supports Dutch and Belgian clients in Dutch language. Her focus has been for years on the legal management of construction projects, particularly with regard to the remuneration of additional work and issues relating to claims for extension of time.

Petra Gorny is a member of the Berlin Bar Association.

She is fluent in Dutch and English.
